‘Wonderful New World’ is cranking up the tension with a fierce confrontation between Lim Ji-yeon and Lee Se-hee.
‘Wonderful New World’ depicts a war-like romance between Shin Seo-ri (played by Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress who awakens as a “villain” after being possessed by the soul of a Joseon-era villainess, and Cha Se-gye (played by Heo Nam-jun), a chaebol born of the capitalist era.
The drama has been a hot topic since its first week. According to FlixPatrol, it hit #1 on the Netflix Global Non-English TV Show chart and #1 on the ‘Today’s Korea TOP 10 Series.’ It also caught attention as the first SBS Friday-Saturday drama to top the Netflix ‘Global Top 10 Non-English Shows’ during its premiere week, achieving this record faster than any other SBS drama.
Ahead of the third episode, the production team released stills capturing a head-on collision between Shin Seo-ri and top star Yoon Ji-hyo (played by Lee Se-hee), drawing intense interest.
Previously, the two had a sharp clash during the ‘Looking for the Queen’ audition for the brand ‘Dynasty’ launched by Cha Se-gye. Seo-ri provided a satisfying sense of catharsis by remaining completely unfazed by top star Ji-hyo, speaking bluntly and even declaring her intention to stay single.
The newly released photos show a tense standoff between Seo-ri, Ji-hyo, and agency CEO Hong Bu-seon (played by Baek Ji-won). In a 2-on-1 atmosphere, Seo-ri radiates a powerful presence with a sharp gaze, refusing to back down despite her red, swollen cheek.
Even as Hong Bu-seon grips her wrist, Seo-ri stares them down without wavering, showcasing an extraordinary villainess aura.
In the following stills, Seo-ri and Ji-hyo reach a breaking point just before a physical fight. Seo-ri’s even redder face suggests a violent clash has already occurred. Even as Ji-hyo raises her hand to slap Seo-ri, Seo-ri doesn’t blink, meeting her with an intense gaze that heightens the tension.
On the other hand, Ji-hyo’s flustered expression at Seo-ri’s overwhelming energy sparks curiosity about what exactly happened between them. All eyes are on whether Seo-ri, possessing the spirit of a villainess who once shook the Joseon era, can gain the upper hand in this battle against a 21st-century top star.
