Actor Son Hyun-joo caught everyone’s attention by speaking as if he’s still trapped in his role as Dr. Ha Won-do from ‘Wonderfools’!

On the 12th, a press conference for the upcoming Netflix series ‘Wonderfools’ was held at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square. The event was attended by Park Eun-bin, Choi Dae-hoon, Lim Sung-jae, Kim Hae-sook, Son Hyun-joo, Jung Yi-seo, Choi Yoon-ji, Bae Na-ra, and Director Yoo In-sik, with entertainer Park Kyung-rim hosting the show.

The Netflix original ‘Wonderfools’ is a comic superpower adventure set at the end of the century in 1999. It follows a group of local misfits who accidentally gain superpowers and struggle to save the world from villains threatening peace.

Director Yoo In-sik, known for delivering unique characters and solid narratives across various genres in the global hit ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’, the ‘Dr. Romantic’ series, and the ‘Miss Cop’ series, returns once again with an original story and charming characters in ‘Wonderfools’.

Son Hyun-joo, who delivers a powerful performance as Dr. Ha Won-do—the father of the ‘Wunderkinder’ who hides dark desires behind a cold and rational exterior—introduced his character, saying, “He is someone who dreams of a new world. Others call him a villain, but that’s not the case.”

Son Hyun-joo shared, “This is my first time trying this genre, and I received a lot of help from Director Yoo In-sik. I’m very grateful.” He added, “I thought I had a hard time, but after seeing a bit of ‘Wonderfools’, I feel sorry for the quartet (Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Choi Dae-hoon, Lim Sung-jae). They really worked so hard.” He then made the room burst into laughter by adding a comment that sounded like an award speech, saying, “Director Yoo In-sik is a truly smart person.”

The ‘Wunderkinder’, who follow Dr. Ha Won-do like a parent, are a key part of the setting in ‘Wonderfools’. These are children who manifested superpowers through Dr. Ha’s secret project. Son Hyun-joo explained, “I may have said I conducted research in secret, but it was necessary for Haeseong City. Rather than saying I did secret experiments, I worked to manifest superpowers in the children through a secret project.”

At the same time, Son Hyun-joo sparked laughter by showing he hadn’t yet escaped his character, adding, “I shouldn’t be saying this.”

He further piqued curiosity by stating, “Dr. Ha Won-do possesses many abilities. You’ll find out what he’s talking about by watching each episode of ‘Wonderfools’ as it’s released.”

Finally, Son Hyun-joo encouraged viewers to tune in, saying, “‘Wonderfools’ is like a gift set drama with various elements. You can’t help but love it. Since we did our best, I hope you give it a lot of love.”

A gift set featuring superpowers, heroes, and comedy, the Netflix original ‘Wonderfools’ will be released on the 15th.
