Actor Ryu Jun-yeol has caught everyone’s attention after being spotted in Cannes, France, where the Cannes Film Festival is currently taking place.
A Japanese netizen, identifying themselves as a representative of the Japanese film distributor Elas Films, shared a sighting on social media on the 13th, stating, “I met actor Ryu Jun-yeol at the Cannes Film Festival.”
The netizen noted, “He seemed to be there as a buyer. When I mentioned that I had distributed a Korean film, he asked which one it was.” They added, “I thought it might be a bit awkward to mention since it stars Han So-hee (due to previous dating reports), but when I said it was ‘Heavy Snow,’ he burst out laughing and said, ‘Of course I know it’s a Han So-hee movie! It’s really fun!'”
The accompanying photo shows the two smiling at the camera during their chance encounter on the streets of Cannes. Ryu Jun-yeol is seen wearing a white shirt paired with a dark green jacket, and he is notably wearing a badge that allows access to the festival.
Ryu Jun-yeol’s pleasant response to a potentially sensitive question from an international fan adds a heartwarming touch to the encounter.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival features Director Park Chan-wook as the Jury President. Director Na Hong-jin’s ‘Hope’ has been officially invited to the competition category, while Director Yeon Sang-ho’s ‘Swarm’ is in the non-competition category. Additionally, Director Jung Ju-ri’s ‘Dora’ will be showcased in the Director’s Fortnight.
Although Ryu Jun-yeol is not appearing in any of the invited films, he appears to be visiting as a film industry professional to soak in the atmosphere. Notably, he has a previous connection with Director Yeon Sang-ho, having worked together on ‘Revelations’.
Meanwhile, Ryu Jun-yeol is set to meet viewers soon in his upcoming projects, the Netflix series ‘Field Mouse’ and ‘Outback’.
