aespa’s Karina opened up about how not hiding her true emotions is actually the secret to maintaining her bright and positive energy.
On the 14th, a video titled “Karina is kind and listens to my worries well #Let’sListen” was uploaded to the Harper’s Bazaar Korea YouTube channel.
In the video, Karina shared her wisdom while answering fan questions. When asked about her secret to staying bright even during tough times, she revealed, “My feelings show on my face quite a bit, so I don’t hide them. I didn’t specifically try to be bright or positive; I just became that way naturally over time. I think if you express your feelings in the moment, it helps resolve things and makes you more positive and bright.”
To the question, “How do you handle yourself when you’re sad and want to cry?”, she answered, “When I’m sad, I’m sad, and when I want to cry, I cry. Sending an SOS to the people around me is more helpful than you’d think. In my personal opinion, I suggest making friends. Instead of suffering in silence, talking openly with friends is a great way to cope.”
Giving advice on how to turn someone down without making them uncomfortable, she said, “I’m not an expert, but being honest is the answer. First of all, absolutely avoid getting entangled in money matters and just run away! I think it’s best to be honest and say, ‘I’m sorry, I’m a bit uncomfortable with money issues.’ You don’t need to make up other excuses; it’s perfectly fine to proudly state that you’re uncomfortable. A request is a choice, not a demand.”
As a small talk pro, she shared her top tip: “Ask about their MBTI and say something like, ‘Do you have any hobbies? In my case, I’m learning art.’ If you share your own story first, the other person will naturally open up. The key is to share your story first.”
