Comedian Hong Jin-kyung recently caught everyone’s attention by meeting with musician Kim Hyun-chul.
On May 14, a video titled “Legendary musician Kim Hyun-chul’s unreleased song recorded at home at 18 revealed for the first time in 40 years!” was uploaded to the YouTube channel Study King True Genius.
During the episode, Hong Jin-kyung chatted with Kim Hyun-chul about music. She shared that she once filled in as a guest DJ for Bae Chul-soo for four days, during which she had a meal with radio writer Bae Soon-tak.
While talking to writer Bae Soon-tak, Hong Jin-kyung asked about legendary albums in the Korean music scene. He recommended Kim Hyun-chul’s first album released in 1989, which led to Hong Jin-kyung meeting Kim Hyun-chul a month later.

Hong Jin-kyung praised the musician, saying, “As time passes, Kim Hyun-chul’s music becomes even more fragrant,” and added, “When I met writer Bae Soon-tak, I realized you can’t look at the Korean music scene without talking about Kim Hyun-chul.”
When the production team asked how the two became close, Hong Jin-kyung jokingly claimed, “I’ve never been close to Kim Hyun-chul.” However, Kim Hyun-chul countered, explaining, “There was a time when we all hung out together with Choi Hwa-jung and had lunch together.”
Hong Jin-kyung then revealed her connections to other stars, saying, “When I was a radio DJ, Kim Dong-ryul was on KBS and Lee Juck was on MBC at the same time. They all ended at midnight. When they finished, we’d meet at a bar.”
