Actress Jeon Won-ju has finally met her match when it comes to saving money, thanks to her daughter-in-law’s unique habits!
A recent video titled “Went to get wigs with daughter-in-law to cover the bald spot in the back of my head” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Jeon Won-ju-in-gong’.
In the video, Jeon Won-ju spent the day at Namdaemun with her daughter-in-law, Kim Hae-yeon. The two showed off their realistic family chemistry right from the start while ordering drinks at a cafe.

But the real plot twist came next. The daughter-in-law pulled a personal paper cup out of her bag, leaving Jeon Won-ju completely shocked. Explaining that she brought it just in case her mother-in-law wanted to share the drink, the daughter-in-law prompted a laugh from Jeon Won-ju, who joked, “You’re even more [frugal] than I am!”
The video captions even used the expression “the student has surpassed the master,” as even Jeon Won-ju, known as the icon of frugality, acknowledged her.
This habit ties back to a story about a Han River view apartment shared recently. The daughter-in-law revealed that she lived in rental homes for 22 years after marriage and moved seven times. She explained that she eventually moved into her current Han River view home after a house she worked hard to purchase was reconstructed.
It also became a hot topic that she purchased the home on her own without any help from Jeon Won-ju. The daughter-in-law mentioned, “Mother doesn’t know much about real estate,” to which Jeon Won-ju playfully responded, “It’s not my money, so it’s fine.”
Although Jeon Won-ju previously revealed she holds assets worth about 4 billion won, including 3 billion won in stocks and 1 billion won in gold, she continues her modest lifestyle of sharing drinks and keeping useful items.
While the daughter-in-law mentioned, “I wish Mother would spend a bit more now,” she also showed how her own long-term habit of saving has become second nature.
In the end, a tiny paper cup in a bag became an even bigger talking point than the luxury Han River view home.
