Actress Yoo Hye-ri recently looked back on her challenging marriage.
In the MBN show ‘Special World’ aired on the 14th, Yoo Hye-ri appeared to share updates on her life.
Yoo Hye-ri started her day by taking care of her pet cat. She shared some of her mother’s nagging while living alone, saying, “My mom tells me not to live with a cat and to go meet a man instead.”
Yoo Hye-ri previously married fellow actor Lee Geun-hee, but the couple eventually divorced. She revealed that she married despite her parents’ opposition during her peak years, explaining, “At the time, I felt pressure regarding my age. There was an atmosphere that one should be married by the time they turn thirty.”

She continued, “Since my father was also strict, I thought I should marry immediately if I found a good person.” She recalled, “However, we divorced after a year and a half, or two years by the calendar. I think we were both immature and not careful enough.”
Yoo Hye-ri specifically mentioned the turmoil in her marriage, saying, “Stabbing knives into the dining table, breaking all the apartment windows, and coming to a recording site dinner, getting drunk, and throwing chairs at random people… that’s not normal, right?”
She confessed, “Seeing those things made me realize I had made a mistake. That was when I realized my father didn’t oppose the marriage for no reason.”
Additionally, Yoo Hye-ri shared that she felt a lot of guilt toward her parents during the divorce process.
“I think I caused them a lot of heartache. I should have shown them a better side of myself, but I couldn’t show them a happy version,” she said. Regarding why she hasn’t remarried, she explained, “I’ve tried matchmaking and put in the effort. But there is such a thing as trauma. I’ve come to feel that it’s dangerous to just easily meet someone and live together.”
