Director Na Hong-jin is capturing the attention of global movie fans! After being invited to the Competition section of the Cannes Film Festival for his new film ‘Hope’—his first in 10 years—he is further proving his influence through a collaboration with a world-renowned luxury brand.
Director Na Hong-jin has taken the helm for the ‘Spirit of Travel’ project, celebrating the 130th anniversary of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram. This three-part video series reinterprets the house’s core theme of ‘travel’ through a cinematic lens. The first episode, released on the 12th, features brand ambassadors Jun Ji-hyun and Gong Yoo, beautifully delivering the message that “daily life is travel.”

This project is drawing even more interest as it comes just before the release of ‘Hope’, Na Hong-jin’s first new work in a decade since ‘The Wailing’. ‘Hope’ is an SF thriller centered on mysterious events at Hopo Port near the DMZ. With a massive budget of 70 billion won, it is the largest project in the Korean film industry, featuring a star-studded cast including Jo In-sung, Michael Fassbender, and Alicia Vikander.
‘Hope’ was invited to the Competition section of the Cannes Film Festival, which opened on the 12th, even before its official release. Adding to the hype, Hollywood distributor NEON—the same company that handled the North American distribution for ‘Parasite’—will be managing the film’s release in North America.
