WOODZ’s self-composed track is continuing its incredible long-term success on Korea’s major music charts!
According to the latest Melon tally on the 15th, ‘Drowning’ from his 5th mini album released in April 2023 has climbed to 9th place on the ‘Top 100’.
‘Drowning’ has now maintained its spot in the Top 10 for 70 consecutive weeks, setting a new record for the longest chart-in ever. It even surpassed the previous record held by NewJeans’ ‘Hype Boy’ (49 weeks).
The “reverse run” fever is still going strong! The song was rediscovered about a year and six months after its release, after a live video featuring WOODZ during his military service went viral.
Since then, the track has stayed at the top of various charts for over a year. Thanks to fans listening on repeat, it claimed the 1st place spot on the ‘2025 Annual Chart’ for Melon, Genie, and the Circle Chart.
Related videos are also seeing steady views. As of the 14th, the ‘WOODZ Drowning Live Clip’ ranked 3rd on YouTube Korea’s Popular Music Video ‘Top 100’.
The video that sparked this chart climb is also a huge hit. It’s the Armed Forces Day special of KBS-2TV’s ‘Immortal Songs’ where he appeared in his military uniform, and it has already surpassed 30 million views.
‘Drowning’ is a song written and composed by WOODZ himself. It’s known for its delicate yet powerful portrayal of the emotions felt after parting with a loved one.
Meanwhile, WOODZ released his first full-length album ‘Archive. 1’ this past March.
