The SBS drama ‘Try: We Become a Miracle’ (hereafter ‘Try’) has gained global recognition for its artistic quality by winning the Grand Prize at a world-renowned international film festival.
On the 15th, SBS announced that ‘Try’, starring actor Yoon Kye-sang, received the ‘Grand Remi Award’—the highest honor—in the ‘Best Television, Cable, Web Production’ category at the 59th Houston International Film Festival.
Established in 1961 and held in Houston, Texas, the Houston International Film Festival is one of the oldest independent film festivals in the world, focusing on independent and art cinema. ‘Try’ winning the Grand Prize is seen as a testament to the global competitiveness of SBS dramas.
Director Jang Young-seok, who helmed ‘Try’, shared his thoughts, saying, “This result was possible thanks to Studio S CEO Hong Seong-chang and my colleagues who supported the production in every way.” He added, “I want to share this honor with all the actors, including senior actor Yoon Kye-sang, who worked tirelessly on set from the hot summer to the cold winter.”
‘Try’, which ended last August, is a comic growth sports drama about an eccentric coach, Joo Ga-ram (played by Yoon Kye-sang), and the perennially last-place Hanyang Physical Education High School rugby team as they strive for victory at the National Sports Festival. During its run, the show received high praise for Yoon Kye-sang’s powerful charisma and realistic acting, as well as a growth narrative that focused on people and the process rather than just the results. It was also lauded for increasing immersion by realistically depicting the world of sports instead of relying on flashy fantasy.
Previously, ‘Try’ was recognized for both its quality and teamwork when the Hanyang Physical Education High School rugby team won the Best Teamwork Award at the ‘2025 SBS Drama Awards’.
An SBS official stated, “We will continue to present high-quality content with competitiveness in the global market to solidify our position as a channel representing K-dramas.”
