Kakao Entertainment is ramping up excitement for readers by introducing four new webtoons launching on KakaoPage and KakaoWebtoon on the 15th. The lineup is packed with a variety of works, from massive action blockbusters based on popular original stories to steady-selling school action and idol regression fantasies.
First up is “Sandmaster of the Burnt Desert,” which premiered on KakaoPage on the 1st. This action fantasy follows Zeon, an awakener who controls sand on a desertified, post-apocalyptic Earth. A collaboration between author Woogak, well-known for “Legend of the Northern Blade” and “Sasin Pyowol,” and production company STUDIO SOZO, the series hit #1 on KakaoPage’s weekly fantasy chart immediately after release thanks to its overwhelming action scenes with giant creatures and a unique world.
Meanwhile, “Forgotten Field,” released on the 5th, is also receiving a hot response. Based on a web novel by Kim Su-ji, the author of “Under the Oak Tree,” it is adapted and illustrated by Spoon, who achieved million-page views with “Who Made Me a Princess.” This romance fantasy centers on the tragic love between the ill-fated Princess Talia and the emotionless nobleman Barcas, claiming the top spot on KakaoPage’s weekly romance fantasy ranking upon release.
“Guard Pass” is returning with an even bigger scale. Season 2, launching on the 24th, will dive into the past of Jason, a character who gained huge popularity among readers as the protagonist’s helper in Season 1. Set in the United States, it will compellingly portray the tragic events Jason faced during his growth and how his inner self gradually changed. Additionally, the idol-themed fantasy webtoon “Regression White Paper for Idols Who Lost Their Initial Resolve” is making a comeback with Season 3. Releasing on the 28th, Season 3 will follow the exciting journey of 8-year idol Yoon Eden, who has regressed to his debut days, as he carries out missions to satisfy 30 million fans. The series has built a steady fandom through its refreshing growth narrative and the chemistry between members.
Through this lineup, Kakao Entertainment plans to once again prove its competitiveness as a powerhouse in genre webtoons and expand its readership.
