Rain revealed that singing the KBS logo song didn’t exactly help his bank account.
On the May 15 episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘The Seasons – Sung Si Kyung’s Gomak Namchin’, singer Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) made an appearance.
Rain, who officially debuted as a solo artist in 2002 with ‘Bad Guy’, mentioned that he sang a song known by the entire nation even before his formal debut: the KBS logo song.
Rain shared, “Before I debuted in 2000, Jinyoung hyung called me to the recording studio. I recorded it, and a year later, it was airing on KBS. To this day, I have nothing.”
Sung Si Kyung joked, “It would be a bit much to ask for money for that,” to which Rain replied, “But I heard this was the number one song for Jinyoung hyung’s royalties.” Indeed, Park Jin Young has mentioned on several shows that the KBS logo song is a major source of royalty income.
Sung Si Kyung tried to put a positive spin on it, saying, “Since he was a trainee who hadn’t even debuted yet, using his voice to promote on KBS was a result of Park Jin Young’s immense influence. Theoretically, it’s only right that he takes 90-something percent.”
