Joy is preparing for a second future to navigate the uncertainties of the entertainment industry.
In the May 15 episode of MBC’s variety show ‘I Live Alone’, Joy’s journey to obtain a dog grooming certification and Kim Shin-young’s recovery from laryngitis were revealed.
Joy’s big challenge caught everyone’s attention. She visited a stationery store in Cheonho-dong while preparing for her dog grooming license. Being a celebrity, she admitted to always feeling anxious about the future.
“I often think, ‘What if I can’t do this job anymore?’ and felt it would be good to have something else prepared,” she shared, expressing her love for dogs. She is working hard on the practical exam, in addition to the written one.
With her great dexterity and love for animals, Joy revealed she has attended classes about 10 times over the last two months. She explained the process, noting that a “rough cut” is needed for dogs with long fur, followed by a “finish cut,” and that all these tasks appear on the exam.
Her teacher cheered her on, and Joy put all her sense and skill into the grooming process. While diligently brushing the model’s fur, she confessed, “Honestly, it’s fun. I feel like an hour has passed, but when I check the clock, four hours have gone by,” showing that manual grooming suits her aptitude.
Meanwhile, a male student next to her showed off exceptional skills and sense. Joy didn’t hesitate to show a bit of jealousy, saying, “That person is really good.” Despite her neck and back aching, she did her best on the finish cut. The teacher closely monitored her movements and gave her tips on scissor technique, noting, “You need to place the scissors and fix them, but they’re floating a bit.”
Other students nearby cheered her on, telling her that her skills would improve after practicing on about three dogs. With unwavering determination and focus, Joy spent several hours concentrating solely on the finish cut, and the dog’s shape gradually took form.
The strict teacher finally gave her the green light, saying, “The tail size is just right. Just tidy up the ends and it’s good. Finally finished!” A beaming Joy held up the model and called it “Minki,” letting out all her hard-earned stress.
However, being a perfectionist, she admitted, “I’m still not quite satisfied. Even with one brush stroke, some hidden hair pops out,” showing her high standards for perfection.
Kim Shin-young’s daily life also drew attention. Suffering from laryngitis due to an overloaded schedule, she focused on recovering at home. With swollen salivary glands from coughing, she started with an appetizer of strawberries, rice syrup syrup, and stir-fried anchovies with nuts, before finishing off with tteokbokki.
Feeling a scratchy throat, she came up with a unique idea: pouring a large tub of vanilla ice cream into a bowl and topping it with crushed potato chips.
Even while sick, she didn’t neglect cleaning her house. This highlighted Kim Shin-young’s upright nature, always doing her best to take care of herself and maintain a clean and healthy mind. After finishing the laundry, she finally lay down on the sofa to rest.
Joy looked at the resting Kim Shin-young and said, “Ah, so cute,” while hugging Wilson, creating a funny moment as they appeared to be a similar height.
