Sung Si Kyung and Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) certified that they were victims of Kang Ho Dong’s variety shows.
On the May 15 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s ‘The Seasons – Sung Si Kyung’s Gomak Namchin’, singers Rain, Kyuhyun, Tiffany Young, and Lee Chae Yeon appeared.
Appearing as the first guest, Rain performed his new song ‘Feel It(너야)’. Rain revealed that this would be his first and last appearance on ‘The Seasons’, confessing that he doesn’t appear on music shows because of the ending poses.
Rain, who debuted in 2002, and Sung Si Kyung, who debuted around the same time, share many memories. In particular, the two once competed in a “sit-and-stand” challenge while holding female contestants on the variety show ‘Kang Ho Dong’s Cheonsaeng Yeonbun’, a clip that is still talked about today.
When the clip of their battle was shown, Sung Si Kyung said, “I still remember. It’s about not wanting to lose. Rain would have looked bad if he lost to me.” Rain confessed, “At that moment, I thought, ‘What on earth am I doing at 2 AM?'” Sung Si Kyung mentioned Kang Ho Dong, saying, “That’s what happens to variety shows when an athlete becomes a major MC.”
After the battle ended in a tie, the exhausted state of the two was revealed. Sung Si Kyung emphasized, “Our souls were completely drained by Kang Ho Dong.” Rain also exposed, “Ho Dong hyung told me, ‘Ji Hoon, you can win, right?’ and told Si Kyung hyung, ‘Si Kyung, you can’t just lose. You can win, right?'”
They met on MBC Radio the day after the competition. Rain said, “Setting everything else aside, I wondered, ‘Why is hyung working so hard?'” To this, Sung Si Kyung replied, “I wanted to win at least one thing against you. There was an era of variety shows like that. I actually said it. Around 3 AM, Ho Dong hyung asked, ‘How are you feeling right now?’ and I told him, ‘I’m a singer, so I really don’t know why I’m doing sit-and-stands while holding a woman and bags of rice.’ Back then, the atmosphere didn’t allow for such comments, but I’ve always said what I needed to say.”
Rain expressed envy, saying, “Back then, if you became the ‘Queen Card’ or ‘King Card’ on that show, you could escape. Hyung became the King Card. I could never become the King Card no matter what.” However, Sung Si Kyung countered, “I’m here because I became the King Card, but you married the most beautiful woman in the country. I can’t just give the King Card title to anyone,” sparking laughter.
