‘TV Show Jinpum Myeongpum’ is an antique appraisal program that discovers hidden treasures and explores the value of traditional Korean art through the eyes of expert appraisers. In this episode, Kim Mi-ryeo, Kim Ah-young, and Heo Soon-mi will bring their signature wit to the appraisal process.
Stepping into the studio in their full stage costumes and wigs, the three will look exactly like the protagonists from the play, surely catching the eyes of all viewers.

They will also touch hearts by singing musical numbers that reflect the real lives of grandmothers from Chilgok. Their voices, capturing the joy of learning in the twilight of their lives after years of sorrow from illiteracy, are expected to deeply move the audience.
The musical ‘Ojige Jaemineun Gasinadeul’ is a stage adaptation of the documentary film ‘Chilgok Gasinadeul’, which tells the true story of grandmothers in their 80s who learned Hangeul and began writing poetry. Over 20 poems by the actual grandmother students were reimagined as musical numbers. The premiere last year proved its quality by sweeping the 10th Korea Musical Awards, winning Best Production (under 400 seats), Best Director (Oh Kyung-taek), and Best Playwright (Kim Ha-jin).
In the play, Kim Mi-ryeo and Heo Soon-mi play 75-year-old ‘In-soon’, who found comfort in Pushkin’s poetry introduced by her first love. Kim Ah-young plays 89-year-old ‘Young-ran’, who used to be afraid of the fairy tale books her grandchildren handed her because she couldn’t read.
The revival features a strong cast including Gu Ok-bun as ‘Young-ran’, Cha Chung-hwa, Park Chae-won, and Kim Na-hee as ‘Chun-sim’, Kang Ha-na and Lee Ye-ji as ‘Bun-han’, Kang Jung-woo, Kim Ji-cheol, and Jang Min-soo as ‘Seok-gu’, and Ha Eun-ju and Shin Jin-kyung as ‘Gaeul’.
The musical ‘Ojige Jaemineun Gasinadeul’ opened on May 15 and will run until June 28 at the National Theater of Korea’s Haneul Theater.
