Singer Cho Young-nam showed off his bold and spicy talking skills regarding couple conflicts on the show ‘Dongchimi’.
In the MBN ‘Dongchimi’ episode aired on the 9th, Seol Woon-do, Nam Jin, and Cho Young-nam continued the 700th episode special. Lee Hyun-yi shared that they received stories from 700 people across the country, sparking a huge response.
One story featured a wife whose mother-in-law still compares her husband (who is the “Cho Young-nam type”) to a “Nam Jin type” son-in-law, even after 40 years of marriage. Cho Young-nam responded, “I tell my daughter she should meet someone like me. You need someone who completely understands and loves you until the end, and I’m the perfect sample of that.” To this, Nam Jin teased, “You mean tell her to get divorced like you?” which left Cho Young-nam feeling emotional.
Nam Jin spoke about the importance of marriage, questioning if someone who lived a “complicated” life like Cho Young-nam could stay with one person. Cho Young-nam surprised everyone by claiming, “I don’t even feel like I’m divorced.”
The youngest member, Seol Woon-do, was asked who he would choose if he were a woman. He honestly answered, “If I were a woman, I’d pick Nam Jin. Cho Young-nam is too free-spirited and might leave if a new woman appears. But Senior Nam Jin wouldn’t look at another woman even if I approached him. I feel I should be honest about this, even if I get criticized.” Cho Young-nam responded by turning his face away in silence.
Noh Sa-yeon tried to defend him, saying, “Since I know Cho Young-nam personally, I think he’s actually a decent husband candidate.” However, the studio didn’t seem to agree, leading to a burst of laughter.
In another story about a husband who only pretends to be filial to his mother-in-law, Cho Young-nam bluntly advised, “Why live with a man like that? It’s a waste of time. Just break up.” Kim Yong-man was flustered, asking why he recommends divorce for every story. Nam Jin added that marriage is complex and involves loyalty and responsibility, especially when children are involved.
Then came a shocking story about a husband who re-employed himself after retirement. While the wife thought he was responsible, she found stamina supplements in his pants and discovered he was having an affair with a coworker. The husband even paid the 10 million won settlement requested by the other woman and said he didn’t care if they divorced.
Noh Sa-yeon firmly stated, “The wife trusted him so much that she thinks this is his first affair, but this is definitely not just a ‘late-life breeze’.” Lee Hong-ryul also strongly recommended divorce.
Cho Young-nam shared his own experience, saying, “I got divorced because I cheated. My driver told his sister about it. When I was questioned, I should have denied it, but because I attended a theological college, I answered honestly.” He then used his own logic to suggest divorce again, saying, “That couple lived together for 40 years, so they can break up. I only lived for 13 years.”
