After 6 Audition Attempts, Seong-ri Finally Wins ‘Unknown Legend’ and Starts His Flower Path!

Singer Seong-ri, who challenged himself in six different audition programs, has finally opened the door to success by winning ‘Unknown Legend’!

In the episode of MBN’s trot audition program ‘Unknown Legend – Trot Men’s Hierarchy War’ (hereafter ‘Unknown Legend’) aired on the 13th, the top 10 finalists competed in their final stage with the ‘Life’s Masterpiece Mission’.

The finale was conducted with public participation scores accounting for a massive 64% (3,200 points out of a total of 5,000). After a close battle where the result was unpredictable until the end, Seong-ri claimed first place and the title of the ‘1st Legend’.

Performing Shin Yu’s ‘Aega’, Seong-ri sang a heartfelt song for his mother, who stayed by his side during his 15 years of obscurity. After earning an intermediate score of 2,784, he recorded a staggering 2,000 points in real-time text voting, which was more than double the score of the second-place contestant, taking home the trophy with an overwhelming total of 4,784 points.

After his win, Seong-ri shared, “I faced more frustrations than I expected since I first dreamed of becoming a singer.” He added, “While challenging myself in numerous auditions, I realized how difficult it was and almost gave up my dream to learn wallpapering. It feels surreal and I’m so grateful that not giving up led me to this brilliant day.”

He further touched hearts by saying, “Seeing my mother cry made me feel that the time I spent enduring and not giving up on being a singer finally paid off. I want to create days for my mother that she never could have dreamed of.”

Having debuted in 2012 with the group K-BOYS, Seong-ri has continuously pursued his dream of being a singer through various audition programs.

In 2017, he appeared on Mnet’s ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ to chase his idol dreams, and starting with MBN’s ‘Voice Trot’ in 2020, he attempted a transformation into a trot singer. After finishing as the runner-up on ‘Voice Trot’, he continued to capture fans’ hearts by appearing on MBN’s ‘Voice King’ in 2021, TV CHOSUN’s ‘Mr. Trot 2’ in 2022, and MBN’s ‘Active Singer 2’ in 2024.

Then came his sixth challenge as a contestant on ‘Unknown Legend’. On this program, Seong-ri finally grabbed the title of ‘winner’ he had dreamed of. In particular, he drew attention by proving his popularity and skill through overwhelming text vote results.

After six attempts, Seong-ri has truly opened his flower path through ‘Unknown Legend’. Expectations are high to see how the ‘1st Legend’ will continue to lead the trot trend moving forward.
