From Pro Gamer to K-pop Idol! NAZE's Yunki Once Ranked 3rd in the World

Yunki from the group NAZE revealed that he actually leveled up his English skills through gaming!

NAZE (Kaisei, Yunki, Ato, Turn, Yuya, Kim Gun, and Dohyuk) recently visited the TenAsia office in Jung-gu, Seoul, to share all the details about their debut album ‘NAZE’.

As a multinational group, the members speak a variety of languages, including Korean, English, Japanese, and Thai. Interestingly, Korean member Yunki boasts impressive English skills even though he never studied abroad.

Yunki shared that he naturally picked up the language through his hobbies. “I learned English while gaming with people from all over the world,” he said. “I played both FPS and RPG games and was good at both. I even entered international gaming tournaments and reached a world ranking of 3rd!” He added, “I considered becoming a professional gamer, but my love for music was stronger, so I wanted to debut as an idol more.”

His dream of becoming an idol started with a school talent show. Yunki recalled, “I first performed at a talent show in middle school. I went up spontaneously and rapped. I’ll never forget how my friends responded with bright smiles. When I handed the mic over, they sang along. That memory makes me so happy, even when I’m asleep,” he said with a smile.

NAZE is the first rookie group from C9 Entertainment in five years, following CIX and EPEX. Their team name, NAZE, refers to the terrain where the sea and land meet. It represents their ambition to find their true selves within infinite possibilities that can lead anywhere.

NAZE’s first mini album ‘NAZE’ will be released on May 4th at 6 PM.
