Jun Hyun-moo is gearing up for a new challenge: broadcasting the North American World Cup!
In the May 17 episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Boss’s Ears are Donkey Ears’, Jun Hyun-moo shares his thoughts on joining the KBS North American World Cup broadcasting team. Despite being a 21-year veteran, he is essentially a “rookie” caster in this arena.
Jun Hyun-moo previously brought a lot of heart to the weightlifting broadcasts during the 2024 Paris Olympics, sparking public interest in a sport often considered less popular. His genuine passion left a deep impression on many, and his broadcasts recorded the highest ratings among the three major terrestrial networks.
This time, Jun Hyun-moo revealed, “I’m taking on World Cup football broadcasting for the first time in my life to enjoy the game with many citizens.” It is reported that he accepted the offer to support his junior KBS announcer, Nam Hyun-jong, despite the immense pressure of his first World Cup. To prepare, he has been in full “study mode,” visiting K-League matches to learn the AtoZ of football broadcasting from Nam Hyun-jong and commentator Lee Young-pyo.
Jun Hyun-moo shared his bold ambition, saying, “This is my first World Cup broadcast, so I’ll add a spoonful of variety to the football commentary.” He also teased some great chemistry, noting, “Lee Young-pyo and I were both born in 1977, the Year of the Snake. Please look forward to the special chemistry between two Snakes!” He highlighted the chemistry with Lee Young-pyo and the youthful energy of Nam Hyun-jong, the youngest World Cup caster ever at 32, as the main points to watch as he begins his journey toward the North American World Cup.
Meanwhile, Park Myung-soo’s eyes lit up at the news of Jun Hyun-moo’s World Cup duties. He joked, “Hyun-moo, don’t worry about things here,” while burning with ambition to take over Jun Hyun-moo’s MC position, causing a burst of laughter.
The episode airs at 4:40 PM.
