Actress Han Sun-hwa shared a heartfelt message of gratitude toward her colleagues.
To celebrate the release of the movie ‘Student Teacher Practice,’ TV Report sat down with Han Sun-hwa at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul. In this film, she takes on the role of Eun-gyeong, a passionate student teacher who digs into the truth behind a mysterious black magic club.
‘Student Teacher Practice’ is a film that aims to capture the pain of the era by highlighting the collapse of teaching authority and the struggles of teachers. During the press screening, Director Kim Min-ha even shed tears while mentioning the death of a teacher at Seo-i Elementary School. Regarding the movie’s message, Han Sun-hwa shared, “It’s a film with deep meaning hidden behind a unique script. I hope the director’s heart reaches many people.”
When asked if there is a teacher who left a lasting impression on her life, she replied, “There is a teacher who has been brainstorming and worrying with me since I first started acting. Also, senior Yeon Jae-wook serves as a great example for me as an actor. He is someone I respect as a colleague and who gives me great energy.”
She continued, “Beyond the acting itself, there are hardships that actors face on set. I’m learning a lot by discussing those things together. I often tell my acquaintances that I’m lucky to have such a great teacher and colleagues. Just as much as being good at acting, the attitude you approach it with is important, and they are the ones who help me keep that mindset healthy.”
Han Sun-hwa has built a solid filmography across various media and genres, including the dramas ‘Work Later, Drink Now’ and ‘Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness,’ as well as the movies ‘Pilot’ and ‘First Ride.’ Now at a stage where she works with many juniors, she played a role in ‘Student Teacher Practice’ that leads many actors both on and off screen. Regarding working with rookie actors, she admitted, “I was so overwhelmed just focusing on my own acting. I didn’t feel like I was giving them anything, but the director told me they received a lot of help. I’m just glad if I could have a positive influence.”

Talking about her chemistry with the black magic club members (Hong Ye-ji, Lee Yeo-reum, and Lee Hwa-won), she said, “There were parts where those actresses performed separately, so they had already built great chemistry. If I had to coordinate with them from the very beginning, it would have taken much longer. In that sense, the great chemistry between the three actresses really helped me while acting with them.”
Han Sun-hwa described ‘Student Teacher Practice,’ which blends genre-specific pleasure with a heavy message, as a “gem of a movie.” She appealed to the film’s charm, saying, “I hope rookie directors continue to make interesting attempts and that the audience finds various joys. In that sense, ‘Student Teacher Practice’ is a movie worth experiencing at least once. I hope you challenge yourselves with the uniqueness and individuality of this film, just as I did.”
She added, “Since it’s a work with a unique worldview, the entry barrier might be high. I think my role is to make that difficulty a bit easier. I’d be happy if I was used in that way for this movie,” expressing her hope that audiences would enter the world of ‘Student Teacher Practice’ through her.
‘Student Teacher Practice,’ where Han Sun-hwa’s energy shines, is now playing in theaters.
