Actor Jang Dong-ju, who suddenly announced his retirement without consulting his agency, has deleted the post in question.
On the 18th, it was confirmed that the retirement announcement on Jang Dong-ju’s SNS account has been removed.
Early on the 15th, Jang Dong-ju took to SNS to share, “I have received so much love and support while living as an actor for a long time. Every moment I laughed and cried in front of the camera was the brightest time of my life,” but then suddenly declared, “As of today, I intend to step down from my life as an actor.”
He bid farewell, adding, “Although I am leaving the stage, I will never forget the love you have shown me.”
His agency, Management W, responded to the news, stating, “This was a unilateral decision made by the actor without any prior discussion or agreement with the company.” They further described it as “irresponsible behavior that betrays the trust and responsibility of an actor currently under contract.”
The agency continued, “We are doing our best to resolve the situation with the partners and officials who suffered due to the actor’s arbitrary decision, and we are viewing this matter very seriously.” They added, “We believe the relationship of trust with Jang Dong-ju is virtually irreparable. We plan to carefully review all options, including whether to maintain the exclusive contract.”
This isn’t the first time Jang Dong-ju has caused a stir. Last October, he suddenly disappeared after posting a short message saying “I’m sorry” on SNS. At the time, his agency, Nexus ENM, stated that he was “unreachable.” A few hours later, the agency apologized, saying they had located him and that “fortunately, it is not a bad situation.”
About a month later in November, Jang Dong-ju explained, “I sincerely apologize for causing concern because communication was not smooth due to personal circumstances. Several things overlapped, and I needed some time to reorganize myself.”
Meanwhile, Jang Dong-ju recently appeared as Hyun Woo-seok in the SBS drama ‘From Today, I am Human’, where he worked alongside actors Kim Hye-yoon and Lomon.
