Hong Ji-yoon and Solji have shared their heartfelt thoughts on participating in the ‘Korea-Japan Singer Match’.
The MBN ‘2026 Korea-Japan Singer Match Gala Show’, airing on May 19, will feature a spectacular gala performance by the Korea-Japan TOP7.
This gala show will showcase stunning transformations of the Korea-Japan TOP7 in performances never seen before, along with honest reflections from the active singers of both countries regarding the ‘2026 Korea-Japan Singer Match’.
In particular, Korean champion Hong Ji-yoon recalled the many moments of laughter and tears spent preparing for the ‘2026 Korea-Japan Singer Match’, stating, “Although we competed with the (Japanese TOP7), we are also friends.” Solji, after watching the Japanese TOP7 give their absolute best, expressed her joy in gaining reliable musical colleagues beyond the competition, saying, “Even though our countries are different, our passion for music is one. I felt a stronger sense of camaraderie and a feeling of becoming one, which was wonderful.”
Additionally, the ‘2026 Korea-Japan Singer Match Gala Show’ will feature Korea’s 1st and 2nd generation champions Jeon Yu-jin and Park Seo-jin, as well as Japan’s 2nd generation champion Yudai. Jeon Yu-jin will undergo a bold transformation with fiery blonde hair to perform her new song ‘Gayo Gayo’, while Park Seo-jin will bring his signature cheerful energy to ‘Jinaya’. Japanese champion Yudai will showcase his outstanding vocal skills and flexible stage presence with performances of ‘Transparent’ and ‘Love Story’.
Furthermore, the ‘2026 Korea-Japan Singer Match Gala Show’ will reveal various behind-the-scenes stories from the ‘2026 Korea-Japan Singer Match’, as well as untold secrets from the active singers of both nations.
