The secret behind the creation of the legendary variety show ‘god’s Parenting Diary,’ which once swept South Korea, has finally been revealed, showing the contrasting fates of the top groups of that era.
On the May 3 broadcast of SBS ‘My Little Old Boy,’ first-generation idol legends gathered to celebrate the 30th anniversary of H.O.T.’s Moon Hee-jun and Tony An.
With Park Joon-hyung and Jang Soo-won joining the gathering, a flood of shocking behind-the-scenes stories from their active days poured out.
The biggest highlight was the casting secret of ‘Parenting Diary,’ the show that played a huge role in making god “national singers.” Park Joon-hyung stirred up the atmosphere by revealing, “The offer for ‘Parenting Diary’ actually went to H.O.T. first.”
Tony An nodded in agreement. He recalled the regretful moment, saying, “The offer did come in, but it was a bit difficult to do given the team’s situation at the time. We always had to appear on broadcast in a perfectly set state.”

Moon Hee-jun then shared the specific details of why they had to decline, leaving the set in bursts of laughter.
He honestly confessed, “Wouldn’t we have to look after a baby right after waking up without any makeup? We decided it didn’t fit our team’s ‘mystique’ concept at the time, so we turned it down.”
The twists of fate didn’t end there. Park Joon-hyung added to the dramatic process, explaining, “‘Parenting Diary’ went to H.O.T., then to Sechs Kies, and finally came to us.”
In the end, god seized the opportunity. Park Joon-hyung caused an explosion of laughter, saying, “We were just hanging out in our underwear when the production team came to our dorm. We said we’d love to do it, but I think the producers hesitated because we looked so shabby.”
Moon Hee-jun also shared his thoughts on watching their rival team god’s success. He confessed his intuition was right, saying, “Seeing Ho-young looking tired while taking care of the baby was so lovely. After seeing that scene, I got goosebumps and thought they would take off starting the next day.”
