Jang Sun Delivers a Heartbreaking Performance in 'Scarecrow', Showcasing Agonizing Family Love

Actor Jang Sun has left a powerful impression on viewers through her role in ‘Scarecrow’.

In the 9th episode of ENA’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Scarecrow’, Jang Sun, who plays Ji-hye (the sister of Seok-man, played by Baek Seung-hwan), showed her anxiety after receiving a call from Ji-won (Kwak Sun-young).

Ji-won had grown suspicious of Seok-man because he refused to reveal his alibi for the day before the serial murder cases occurred. After scouring the phone book, she called Ji-hye, who quickly hung up, claiming it was a wrong number, leaving viewers curious about her hidden story.

The reason Ji-hye avoided Ji-won’s call was revealed in the 10th episode. Ji-hye had been distancing herself from Seok-man to avoid conflict with her in-laws, who looked down on him. She was shocked to hear from Ji-won that Seok-man was under suspicion because he wouldn’t disclose his whereabouts.

As it turns out, the person Seok-man met that day was actually Ji-hye. Because Ji-hye had asked him to keep their meeting a secret, her brother ended up being unfairly accused. Upon realizing this, Ji-hye was overcome with deep sadness and apology toward her brother.

Jang Sun left a lasting impression by poignantly depicting the complex mix of guilt and agony of a sister who couldn’t protect her brother. Having already proven her acting skills by winning Best Actress at the 45th Korean Film Critics Awards for the movie ‘Hong-i’, she has further solidified her talent in ‘Scarecrow’. With her strength in delicate emotional expression and character immersion, fans are eagerly anticipating her next project.

Meanwhile, ‘Scarecrow’ is a “hate-relationship” investigative drama about a detective investigating a serial murder case who forms an unexpected partnership with someone they despise. It airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 PM.
