Actor Song Il-gook is making headlines for coolly admitting that his agency closed down and revealing his surprising daily routine of using public transportation.
During an appearance on the MBN variety show “Kim Ju-ha’s Day & Night” aired on the 23rd, Song Il-gook caught viewers’ attention by explaining why he arrived at the pre-interview location wearing a backpack.
When MC Kim Ju-ha asked, “I heard you walked here yourself with a backpack,” Song Il-gook bluntly replied, “My agency went bankrupt,” causing a stir in the studio.
While it could have been a heavy topic, Song Il-gook added a touch of wit.
He joked, “That’s why these days I always ride a ‘B.M.W’,” explaining that it stands for “Bus, Metro, and Walk,” leaving the set in laughter.
Instead of the lavish treatment usually given to top actors, he showed a humble side, blending in with the public with just a backpack.
Despite his tall height and distinct features, Song Il-gook shared a surprising fact.
He waved his hand, saying, “I mainly use the subway, but maybe only one out of every 30 to 40 people recognize me.”
He also showed his professional side as an actor who knows exactly how to handle the “before and after payment” transformation.
Song Il-gook shared a bittersweet episode, saying, “Until recently, I had gained a lot of weight, and people didn’t recognize me even without a mask. But now that I’ve lost some weight, some people recognize me even with a mask on.”
When Kim Ju-ha exclaimed, “As expected, the best plastic surgery is dieting,” he responded with veteran poise, “I lose weight as soon as the payment comes in.”
Song Il-gook previously received nationwide love alongside the triplets Dae-han, Min-guk, and Man-se through “The Return of Superman.”
Despite the sudden change of his agency closing, fans are pouring out support for his ability to turn the situation into something cheerful rather than hiding it.
Although he doesn’t have a fancy sedan, Song Il-gook has started walking again among the citizens with a backpack. Public attention is now focused on the second act of his life, where he will return to projects in an even cooler way once the “payment is complete.”
