Actor Ahn Hyo-seop has revealed the exciting behind-the-scenes story of his new song, ‘Something Special,’ a collaboration with global superstar Khalid.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Ahn Hyo-seop shared that music has been a lifelong passion of his. His agency, The Present Company, announced on the 27th that he views this project as a deeply meaningful opportunity for both his personal growth and his career.

‘Something Special’ was produced as part of the ‘FANDOM Project,’ a joint venture between music investment platform MusicCow and U.S. entertainment giant Roc Nation. The project aims to connect Korean and international artists to create fresh collaborative content and offer fans new ways to experience music. Ahn Hyo-seop is the very first Korean artist to join this project.

Talking about working with Khalid, whom he has long admired, Ahn Hyo-seop admitted, “I couldn’t believe I was working with Khalid, someone I’ve been a fan of for a long time. I was so happy to collaborate with him.” Khalid, the R&B sensation famous for hits like ‘Location,’ ‘Talk,’ and ‘Better,’ is also marking his first official collaboration single with a Korean artist through this release.

He also opened up about his nerves, saying, “Since I’ve been active as an actor for a long time, I’m a bit worried about how fans will perceive me singing. But in the end, this is my life, and I’m truly enjoying this music.” He added, “I hope this song becomes another opportunity to share emotions with my fans.”

Since the song’s release on the 22nd, fans worldwide have been showing massive love. The collaboration between Ahn Hyo-seop and Khalid trended on X (formerly Twitter), and fans have been sharing their streaming certifications through challenges on Instagram.

MusicCow stated, “The FANDOM Project goes beyond simply releasing music; it’s about connecting Korean and global artists and expanding how fans experience music intellectual property (IP).” They added that they plan to continue pursuing various global collaborations in the future.
