Lee Yeji, the 1st place winner of ‘Our Ballad’, sought advice about her love life.
On the May 4th episode of KBS JOY’s ‘Ask Anything’, Lee Yeji (20), the 1st place winner of ‘Our Ballad’, and Lee Jihoon (18), the 2nd place winner, made an appearance.
Lee Yeji shared her struggle, saying, “My concern is whether I’m just clueless, but I can’t tell when someone is flirting with me. And when I do like someone, I can’t express it, so I don’t know how to start dating.” She expressed her desire to be in a relationship, and when Lee Soo-geun worried about potential dating rumors, she replied, “I think it would be nice to have someone to lean on.”
Seo Jang-hoon responded, “Why do you keep trying to lean on someone? You have to push through this harsh world on your own,” to which Lee Yeji replied, “There are times when being alone is overwhelming.” When Lee Soo-geun suspected she might have a “some” (someone she’s seeing), Lee Yeji firmly denied it. Lee Soo-geun joked, “You probably don’t notice because they aren’t your type,” and Seo Jang-hoon added, “If the other person isn’t expressing it strongly, it means they aren’t that interested. That’s why you don’t notice.”
Lee Yeji then confessed a time she truly missed a flirtation: “There was a friend who gave me gifts on Valentine’s Day and other special occasions. I later heard from another friend that they did it because they liked me.” When Seo Jang-hoon asked how she felt about them romantically, she replied, “I’ve never thought of them that way.” Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Soo-geun concluded that if she had been interested in the person, she would have noticed immediately and responded.
Seo Jang-hoon advised her, “Don’t date people whose backgrounds are unclear. If you fall for even slight flirting, you might end up in strange situations. Some people even move in together immediately if they like someone. You need to observe a person over a long period to understand their strengths and weaknesses.” Lee Soo-geun also encouraged her, saying, “You mentioned wanting someone to lean on, but your real task and focus should be growing into an even more wonderful singer.”
