Shin Dong-yup recently looked back on the time his junior, Kim Won-hoon, was a bit too eager during a variety show appearance.
On May 11, a video featuring guests Kwak Beom, Lee Sun-min, Lee Jae-yul, and Kim Dong-ha was uploaded to the channel ‘Zzanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup’.
During the episode, Shin Dong-yup recalled Kim Won-hoon’s appearance on tvN’s ‘Amazing Saturday’. Shin shared, “I love and care for Won-hoon, and I know how talented he is. But he was so tense that as soon as he appeared, he just kept pushing his prepared bits without even checking the reactions. I felt like a parent watching their child struggle. It hurt my heart that I had to join in on the teasing while the others were making fun of him. I was actually quite upset back then.”
Kwak Beom then revealed that Kim Won-hoon’s ‘Amazing Saturday’ appearance actually became a sort of guideline for the comedy world, sparking laughter. Kwak explained, “It’s legendary. Won-hoon was the first one to go to ‘Amazing Saturday’. After seeing what he did, the company issued guidelines almost like the Ten Commandments: ‘Relax,’ ‘Don’t go too hard at the start,’ and ‘Don’t do prepared bits.'”
Shin Dong-yup added, “He’s so funny when he’s just talking normally, but he had prepared way too much for this. Since he knew it wasn’t landing, he just kept going without looking at the reactions.”
