Singer Kim Jong-min and Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women’s University have teamed up to release a multilingual video promoting the history and ecological value of Dokdo.
Professor Seo Kyoung-duk announced on the 6th, “We produced a video titled ‘Dokdo Rocks, History You Should Know’ with Kim Jong-min and released it both domestically and internationally.”
Co-produced with the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation Content Agency, the video is approximately 4 minutes and 30 seconds long. It was created in both Korean and English versions to reach netizens both in Korea and abroad.

The video highlights that Dokdo, consisting of hundreds of rocks, is a massive ecological museum designated as Natural Monument No. 336. Specifically, it introduces rocks with historical significance, such as ‘Haenyeo Rock,’ which reflects the lives of Jeju haenyeo (female divers) who worked on Dokdo, and ‘Gaje Rock,’ which was once a habitat for the Dokdo sea lions that went extinct due to overhunting during the Japanese colonial period.
Professor Seo explained, “I planned this video to share the stories of the rocks, which are living history and records of Dokdo, in a more accessible and interesting way. We are sharing the video not only on YouTube but also through various SNS platforms and Korean communities and international student groups worldwide.”
Kim Jong-min, known as one of the celebrities who has visited Dokdo the most through various TV programs, participated in the narration of the video. Kim Jong-min shared, “It is meaningful to convey the history of Dokdo’s rocks through my voice. I hope many people at home and abroad watch the video and remember the significance of Dokdo together.”
