Actor Gang Dong-won is making a surprise appearance on ‘Study King Genius’!
According to OSEN on the 7th, Gang Dong-won recently participated in a recording for ‘Study King Genius’ where he met with Hong Jin-kyung. It is reported that the filming was a fun, variety-style session featuring Gang Dong-won, Hong Jin-kyung, Lee Ji-hye, and Jang Young-ran. The episode is expected to be released in late May or early June.
Following Jun Ji-hyun’s high-profile YouTube appearance for the first time in 28 years since her debut, ‘Study King Genius’ is continuing its streak of hosting top stars with the addition of Gang Dong-won. Known for focusing heavily on his acting projects and rarely appearing on variety shows, fans are excited to see the chemistry he will share with Hong Jin-kyung and Jang Young-ran.
Currently, Gang Dong-won is preparing for the release of the comedy film ‘Wild Thing’, which marks his most daring transformation since his debut.
A representative actor of Chungmuro, Gang Dong-won plays Hyun-woo, the leader and “dance machine” of the group Triangle, boasting an unmatched aura and visuals straight out of a comic book. He reportedly spent five months practicing headspins and breakdancing to perform most of the scenes himself without a stunt double. Meanwhile, ‘Wild Thing’ (directed by Son Jae-gon, distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by About Film), releasing on June 3, tells the story of the three-member co-ed dance group ‘Triangle’. Once dominating the music scene before a sudden disbandment, the group makes a reckless attempt to seize a chance for a comeback after 20 years. The film is a collaboration between director Son Jae-gon, known for his unique comedy style in ‘Haechi-ji-anha’, and About Film, the production company behind the 2019 hit ‘Extreme Job’ which drew 16.26 million viewers.
