Yano Shiho is opening up about her family’s heartache on ‘Fun-staurant’ as she remembers her late father-in-law.
In the May 8 episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Fun-staurant’, we get a glimpse into the daily cooking life of Yano Shiho, the wife of ‘Ajossi’ Choo Sung-hoon and mother of Sarang.
During the episode, Yano Shiho candidly shares memories of her father-in-law, who passed away suddenly in 2023, the sorrow the family endured, and how things have changed since then.
In the VCR, Yano Shiho takes on the challenge of making Chueotang (loach soup). To celebrate ‘Couples’ Day’ in Japan, she decided to prepare a special health food for her husband, Choo Sung-hoon, who is currently enjoying a second peak in his career and is busier than ever. While everyone wondered if she could actually pull off the difficult Chueotang, Yano Shiho arrived with her mother-in-law’s recipe in hand. The spectacular cooking process will be revealed in the full broadcast of ‘Fun-staurant’.
Yano Shiho also shared another heartfelt reason for preparing this special meal. “April is the month my father-in-law passed away, so it’s a meaningful time for the family. I think Choo Sung-hoon’s heart is especially heavy during this period,” she said carefully. Choo Sung-hoon’s father, who is familiar to many viewers, passed away suddenly from a heart attack in April 2023. Yano Shiho recalled the day, saying, “It was so sudden. By the time we rushed there after receiving the call, he had already passed.”
She also spoke about the difficult time Sarang went through, noting, “Sarang cried as if her world were collapsing. The trauma lasted for about two years.” She added, “It was a huge shock for Choo Sung-hoon as well. After his father passed, a major turning point came in my husband’s life. He changed in every possible way.”
