In the far reaches of Namhae, the touching story of 100-year-old Lee Bok-soon and her daughter, Jung Jung-mae, who is nearing 80, is revealed. Driven by the responsibility of being the eldest child, the daughter returned to her hometown 18 years ago to care for her mother. However, the grueling farm work needed for their livelihood meant she couldn’t always ease her mother’s loneliness. Although they successfully celebrated a 100th birthday party with the blessings of the villagers, a small mistake occurred while the mother tried to help her daughter, leading to a surprising declaration: “Please send me to a nursing hospital.”
Desperate to lighten the burden on her daughter, who is aging because of her, the mother’s plea leads the two to visit a nursing home. Just as the daughter, who was calmly preparing for the farewell, turns to leave, the mother bursts into tears, leaving everyone heartbroken.
