MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘Fifties Professionals’ is gearing up for some intense character play by adding a lineup of seasoned actors to join leads Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae.

Premiering on the 22nd at 9:50 PM, ‘Fifties Professionals’ tells the story of three men who were once famous but now live ordinary lives, only to be swept back into the currents of fate. It will be a “salty” action comedy focusing on middle-aged men whose bodies may be rusty, but whose loyalty and instincts are still very much alive.
The core of the drama will be led by Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae, with Kim Shin-rok and Lee Hak-joo joining them. The lineup is further enriched by special appearances from Kim Sang-kyung and Kwon Yul.
Additionally, a host of actors with strong personalities, including Han Ji-eun, Kim Sang-ho, Hyun Bong-sik, Shin Dong-mi, Lee Soon-won, Lee Han-wi, Kim Byung-ok, and Jung Suk-yong, will appear to enhance the realism and immersion. The relationships between characters entangled in police, gangs, family, and power structures are expected to deliver both tension and humanity.
Han Ji-eun will play the role of Officer Park Mi-kyung from the Yeongseon District Office. She is a character who doesn’t let go of her sense of justice despite feeling skeptical about corruption within the organization. She is set to show unique chemistry through her connection with a convenience store customer who has a crush on Beom-ryong. Fans are looking forward to seeing a new side of Han Ji-eun, who has excelled in various genres.
Kim Sang-ho takes on the role of Jo Seong-won, the head of the NIS Anti-Communist Investigation Team. While possessing great intuition and a sense of justice, he is framed by internal betrayal and forced into hiding. He spends a long time tracking the truth under a hidden identity and forms a strong alliance with Ho-myeong.
Hyun Bong-sik appears as Yoo In-gu, the leader of the Ingu-pa organization. In the past, during the Hwasan-pa days, he was overshadowed by Beom-ryong, but he grew into a core member of the organization using his social maneuvering. However, he lives in constant anxiety, fearing revenge from the disappeared Beom-ryong and Gong-bok.
Shin Dong-mi plays Kwon Oh-ran, the wife of Ho-myeong, portraying a realistic married couple. As the daughter of the long-standing Oran Restaurant, she is a character who bears the weight of reality between childcare, the family business, and her lethargic husband. The indifferent yet affectionate vibe and lived-in chemistry of a long-term couple are expected to add warmth to the show.
Lee Soon-won plays Geum Gang-sik, the second-in-command of Ingu-pa. He is a character who solidified his position in the organization by relying on power rather than ability. While he is Yoo In-gu’s right-hand man, he also harbors ambitions to take over that spot one day. Lee Han-wi will play President Kwon, the owner of Oran Restaurant, showcasing a realistic father character who keeps the family centered.
Kim Byung-ok appears as Hwang Hwa-san, the leader of Hwasan-pa. Once called a legend in the underworld, he fell from grace after being framed for murder following a failed NIS operation. He adds tension to the plot by placing his last hopes on Beom-ryong and Gong-bok. Jung Suk-yong will play Ri Cheol-jin, the head of the Special Forces of the Ministry of People’s Armed Forces, acting as a key figure who shakes things up amidst power and desire.
The production team stated, “The quality of the work has been further enhanced by the performances of actors like Han Ji-eun, Kim Sang-ho, Hyun Bong-sik, and Shin Dong-mi.” They added, “Please look forward to the synergy and unique character play they will create with Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae.”
