Actor Ahn Jae-hyun showed off his meticulous side by conducting a preliminary survey for apartments in the 300 million won range in Seoul, while also candidly sharing his experience of living in a semi-basement in the past.
In the MBC episode of ‘구해줘! 홈즈’ aired on the 14th, Ahn Jae-hyun and 임우일 set out on a mission to find apartment listings in Seoul priced around 300 million won.
The studio was buzzing at the mention of a 300 million won apartment in Seoul. 김숙 expressed doubt, noting that recent reports put the average price of small apartments in Seoul at over 1 billion won. 장동민 added that such a price might only be possible in areas with no redevelopment potential. Ahn Jae-hyun pointed out that 300 million won is still a significant amount, explaining that even with a 50% loan, it would take about 12 years to save up if one saved 1 million won every month.
As Ahn Jae-hyun and 임우일 headed out together, Ahn showed confidence, wondering if the production team trusted them. 임우일 proudly revealed he suggested the theme for this special. When 임우일 mentioned that actor 김승현 had sent him links and messages despite them not being close, the cast joked, “Shouldn’t 김승현 be here instead of 임우일? All you did was check the messages!” leaving 임우일 feeling unfairly targeted.
Ahn Jae-hyun’s level of preparation was truly on another level. He revealed that he had visited real estate offices alone before filming began. When a listing near Hapjeong Station appeared, the cast was surprised by the high market price of the area. Ahn explained, “I stopped by real estate offices near my house for a preliminary survey.” Armed with notes, he asked detailed questions about market trends and which areas offer homes in the 300 million won range. He even used his own phone to film the sites. Showing his thoughtful side, he even brought protein drinks for the real estate agent he already knew.
However, a real estate agent explained that even in Dobong-gu, prices are around 400 million won, proving that finding a 300 million won apartment in Seoul is harder than expected. Despite this, Ahn Jae-hyun impressed everyone by finding a 55-year-old mixed-use apartment in the 200 million won range located near three subway stations. Interestingly, this apartment was a filming location for the drama ‘나의 아저씨’.
Meanwhile, Ahn Jae-hyun spoke honestly about his past hardships. “I’ve lived in many villas and row houses, and I’ve even lived in a semi-basement,” he revealed. “I’ve lived in a house with no sunlight,” he added with a smile, noting that he still lived “happily.” When he mentioned living in a row house with three rooms and one bathroom, 임우일 was shocked, saying, “You look like a total Apgujeong native.” When Ahn later clarified that his life wasn’t that difficult, 임우일 joked, “That’s why your looks were preserved,” sparking laughter.
