AKMU brought a wave of joy and comfort to the stage of ‘Space Gonggam’!

On the May 13 broadcast of EBS ‘Space Gonggam’, AKMU made a highly anticipated return with their first full-length album in seven years, titled ‘Gaehwa’. They captivated viewers by transforming their lives and philosophy into a stunning work of art on stage, leaving everyone deeply moved.

The energy soared when the intro to their first song, ‘Paradise of Rumors’ (소문의 낙원), began! Lee Chanhyuk playfully declared, “If you’re with us, you *have* to dance this!” and got the entire audience on their feet. The venue instantly became a vibrant festival where fans and artists danced and grooved together. Lee Chanhyuk also shared a profound thought, “I’ve been wondering when our journey, which always focused on ‘leaving,’ would finally settle. Now, I feel like flowers are blooming, and we’ve found our place.” He emphasized that ‘Gaehwa’ (개화) is “more than just an album; it’s a creation that first introduces our very lives,” showcasing the evolved worldview of a 12-year veteran artist.

AKMU couldn’t hide their deep affection for ‘Space Gonggam’ either! Lee Suhyun confessed, “It’s a program we adore so much that we decided amongst ourselves that whenever an album drops, we *have* to be on ‘Gonggam’!” Lee Chanhyuk echoed her sentiments, adding, “It’s incredibly precious to have a show where we can present our music so completely. We need to perform exceptionally well to ensure this program continues!”

But what truly captured everyone’s hearts that day was Lee Suhyun’s incredibly honest confession. After overcoming a slump and picking up the microphone once more, she radiated happiness, sharing, “The only thing that helped me get back on my feet was music. The moments I sing are overwhelmingly joyful!” When an audience member warmly thanked her with, “Thank you for singing again,” Suhyun promised, “I’ll stay on stage for a long, long time,” adding an extra layer of heartwarming emotion to the night.

This performance truly amplified the spirit of ‘Gonggam’ (empathy) by creating a seamless blend between the artists and the audience. From ‘Sunshine Bless You’ (햇빛 bless you), where they freely roamed the stage with fans, to the adorable ‘Tent’ (Tent) that captured the nostalgic feeling of playing guitar as kids, and finally, ‘Stain’ (얼룩), their official ending song completed by singing along with the audience – the entire 60-minute show was a beautiful journey of communication and healing.
