Announcer Nam Hyun-jong shared a truly unfortunate story about the time he had to report on jeonse fraud, despite being a victim of the scam himself.
In the 357th episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show “Boss in the Mirror,” aired on May 17, the incident regarding Nam Hyun-jong’s jeonse fraud loss was brought up.
During the episode, Lee Kyung-kyu mentioned he had done some research on Nam Hyun-jong and asked, “I heard you were a victim of jeonse fraud? How much did you lose?” When Nam Hyun-jong replied, “60 million won,” Lee Kyung-kyu asked how he felt at the time. Nam Hyun-jong lamented, “I went to work the very next day and reported the news. I was a victim too, so in my heart, I was thinking, ‘I’m a victim too.'”
Footage from the actual news broadcast was shown. Noticing Nam Hyun-jong’s sad expression and drooping eyes, the MCs felt for him, commenting, “He looks like he’s about to cry” and “He was the one who got scammed.” Senior announcer Eom Ji-in also commented, “It’s really sad,” while laughing.
