The SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Brave New World’ is capturing attention not only in Korea but across the globe!
According to Nielsen Korea and Netflix Tudum on the 17th, episode 4 of ‘Brave New World’ aired yesterday and recorded a nationwide household rating of 6.0% and 6.0% in the metropolitan area, with its peak rating soaring to 7.8%.
On Netflix, it ranked 1st among domestic TV shows and also claimed the top spot in the Global Top 10 TV shows (Non-English category). This is a first for an SBS Friday-Saturday drama.
‘Brave New World’ follows the story of the soul of a legendary villainess from the Joseon Dynasty who possesses an unknown actress, Shin Seo-ri (Lim Ji-yeon). Shin Seo-ri develops a precarious romance as she becomes entangled with a malicious chaebol, Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun).
Episode 4 showcased the evolving relationship between Shin Seo-ri and Cha Se-gye, as they wavered between misunderstandings and sincerity.
Cha Se-gye’s subtle emotions were revealed while bickering before a management contract. Furthermore, when Shin Seo-ri was called to the police station on charges of assaulting a home shopping assistant director, Cha Se-gye rushed to her side to act as her support.
Laughter was also sparked by scenes of Shin Seo-ri studying acting to master 21st-century performance by binge-watching past hit dramas such as ‘Sandglass’ (1995), ‘Women of the Empress’ (2001), and ‘Rustic Period’ (2002).
Recently, a ‘meme’ video remixing the scene where Lim Ji-yeon, playing Shin Seo-ri, shouts “Are you wagging your filthy tongue?” has been shared online and is gaining significant attention.
‘Brave New World’ airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 PM.
