“Baby Shark” Remains the King! Pinkfong, Pororo, and Teenieping Dominate the Kids’ Song Charts

“Baby Shark Doo Doo Doo Doo” The addictive hit from The Pinkfong Company, “Baby Shark,” has officially held the throne as the king of kids’ songs for 10 years!

According to data analyzed by KT Genie Music from January 1 to April 27 this year, “Baby Shark” secured the top spot, beating out “Banana Cha Cha” (Pororo, 2nd place) and “Teenieping 100” (Catch! Teenieping, 3rd place).

Released in 2016, “Baby Shark” has maintained its peak since becoming the annual kids’ song #1 in 2017, marking a decade of dominance.

“Baby Shark” is based on The Pinkfong Company’s representative character, Baby Shark. With an unforgettable chorus and an easy-to-follow melody, it has captured the hearts of children not only in Korea but all around the world.

Specifically, the “Baby Shark Dance” video became the first in YouTube history to reach 10 billion views and currently holds the all-time #1 spot for most-viewed video across all of YouTube with over 16.8 billion views.

The English version of “Baby Shark” also set incredible records, including 20 consecutive weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 and ranking #1 for “Most Streamed Music Video” on the UK Official Charts.

The cheerful Pororo character song “Banana Cha Cha,” filled with family love, took 2nd place again this year. Meanwhile, “Teenieping 100,” featuring 100 characters from the syndrome-level hit Catch! Teenieping, climbed one spot to 3rd place.

Looking at the top 100 most-loved kids’ songs this year, the popularity of three major IPs—Pinkfong, Pororo, and Teenieping—was particularly striking.

Between Pinkfong (including Bebefinn from The Pinkfong Company) with 26 songs, Pororo with 21 songs, and Teenieping with 15 songs, these three IPs accounted for 62 out of the top 100 tracks.

Besides “Baby Shark,” other Pinkfong hits like “Police Car” (5th), “Tyrannosaurus” (8th), and “Fire Truck” (12th) also ranked high.

Teenieping, the new powerhouse of character songs, saw high rankings for “Teenieping 100,” the “Shooting Star Catch! Teenieping Theme Song” (6th), “Key Teenieping Song” (13th), and “Dessert Teenieping Song” (19th).

Including Pinkfong, Pororo, Teenieping, and even Teeni Teeni, character-based kids’ songs made up 66 out of the top 100, up from 62 last year.

Interestingly, the “Top 100” list showed a higher proportion of older releases compared to new songs.

Breaking down the top 100 by release year, 21 songs were from 2014 to 2015, 56 from 2016 to 2020, and 23 from 2021 to 2024. This means 77% of the songs were released before 2020.

Songs released 12 years ago in 2014, such as “Police Car,” “Tyrannosaurus,” and “Barabam,” totaled 17 tracks.

A KT Genie Music official analyzed, “Pinkfong, Pororo, and Teenieping have led the popularity of character kids’ songs with love that transcends generations. Because cute characters provide familiarity and easy choruses allow families to sing along together, familiar songs like ‘Baby Shark’ continue to be loved.”
