Actress Baek Su-ryun appeared on MBN’s ‘Special World’ on the 21st to share a glimpse into her daily life. She revealed that she has been running a live cafe with a business partner for over 10 years.
“When I’m at home, I only have gloomy thoughts, so I come here to clap my hands and have fun conversations with the family,” she shared, adding, “Even when I’m at home, I worry every day about whether there are customers at the shop.”
She mentioned that she has closed all her other businesses and is currently only operating the live cafe. Balancing acting and business, she admitted, “It’s not that I’m working hard, but rather that I’m living this way because I have no other choice.”
Having moved two years ago, she noted, “Since the house was reduced to half its size, I had to throw away a huge amount of things.” She also opened up about the difficult period she faced after accumulating 10 billion won in debt from her business ventures.
Baek Su-ryun expressed guilt toward her late husband, Kim In-tae, who passed away eight years ago, as well as a deep sense of apology toward her son. While looking at an article about her son’s play, she said with affection, “It’s not just heartwarming, it’s also sad. I’m looking at the news about my son’s play. As he’s gotten older, his face shows the years.”
Her son is actor Kim Soo-hyun. She shared, “Since we are so far apart, I can’t see him often. I think the last time I saw him was around August or September of last year.”
She continued, “I feel bad because he would have become a better actor if he had met a better mother.” She added, “There was a lot of debt in my son’s name. He spent his entire youth as a credit delinquent and was only cleared recently. He hates everything. He became very withdrawn because of me. It’s heartbreaking.”
