Singer and actress BIBI revealed that she inherited her creative DNA from her grandmother and father.
On the May 21st episode of KBS2TV’s ‘Problem Child in House’, BIBI and Yang Sang-guk appeared as guests. BIBI shared how she was able to be a good granddaughter to her grandmother thanks to her hit song ‘Bam Yang Gang’. She said, “I grew up under my grandmother’s care for a while when I was young. Before, she couldn’t brag about me because of the strong lyrics in my songs. But after ‘Bam Yang Gang’ came out, she started bragging, saying, ‘The singer of Bam Yang Gang is my granddaughter!’ Whenever the song plays, she says it’s great. When people ask if she knows ‘Bam Yang Gang’, she replies, ‘Isn’t it hot these days?'”
She added with a smile, “So when I send her pocket money, she tells me she brags about it to the people around her. She says if she’s going to brag, I should buy her something.”
When asked if her parents also brag about her, she sparked laughter by mentioning her father’s reactions. “My father used to run a travel agency, and he’d call me saying, ‘I’m in Vietnam right now, and a customer says they’re a fan!'” she shared. “Also, he usually calls me by my real name, ‘Hyung-seo’, but when we’re at places like the airport, he shouts ‘BIBI!’ loudly.”
Regarding the claim that she inherited creative DNA from her father and grandmother, BIBI revealed, “My grandmother became a published poet later in life, and my father is active as a lyricist.” She even showcased some of the lyrics her father wrote on the spot, adding, “My father has some songs that haven’t been sold yet, so I really hope someone buys them.”
Additionally, BIBI revealed that her younger sister is Kim Na-kyung from the girl group tripleS, mentioning that her sister likely developed her dream of becoming a singer under BIBI’s influence.
