Singer BIBI revealed that ‘Bad X’ has actually brought in more profit than her representative hit ‘Bam Yang Gang’.
On the 19th, a video titled “Recreating the food of the gods requested by BIBI” was uploaded to the channel ‘Bob Eun-young’.
In the video, BIBI and Chef Park Eun-young chatted while making the “rice cake that turns you into a pig” from the movie Spirited Away.
When Park Eun-young asked, “What are the royalties like for a mega-hit like ‘Bam Yang Gang’?”, BIBI replied, “The royalties don’t come to me. They all go to the composer, Jang Ki-ha oppa. Ki-ha oppa is taking it all!” This led Park Eun-young to jokingly suggest, “You should at least ask him to buy you some meat,” sparking laughter.
Park Eun-young then asked if there were any other “filial” songs (songs that bring in steady income) besides ‘Bam Yang Gang’, and BIBI picked ‘Bad X’.
BIBI explained, “Actually, ‘Bad X’ is more of a filial song than ‘Bam Yang Gang’. Compared to ‘Bam Yang Gang’, ‘Bad X’ recorded a hit on a level that can’t even be compared,” adding, “All the royalties for ‘Bad X’ come to me.”
BIBI also added, “I think people working in harsh environments listen to ‘Bad X’ to hold back their anger.”
Furthermore, BIBI mentioned her new song. She shared, “It’s a song I wrote 8 years ago. I tried singing it once, and since the fans loved it, I decided to release it.”
BIBI also explained the meaning of the new song’s title, ‘BUMPA’. She said, “In Jamaican slang, it means ‘butt’. While thinking about the chorus, I got hooked on the word ‘BUMPA’, and I felt I had to use it in this song somehow.”
