Daesung recently opened up about the reason BIGBANG only appeared on one specific broadcast in the past.
On May 8, a video titled “Guys, do you want to make a comeback?” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Zip Daesung’.
The episode featured I.O.I members Jeon Somi, Choi Yoojung, and Kim Sohye. Mentioning I.O.I’s upcoming first Asia tour, Daesung sparked a conversation by saying, “Even though we were crazy busy back then, we couldn’t perform. We basically just filled other people’s plates.”
The three members agreed, expressing their regrets. Jeon Somi shared that it is a lingering sorrow for them, while Choi Yoojung admitted she couldn’t even watch other audition programs because of those feelings. “We set the stage, but we couldn’t even appear on all the music shows,” she added, drawing laughter. Kim Sohye also agreed, noting they couldn’t make it to every music show.

Jeon Somi confessed that while she was grateful for the programs she did, there was one she truly hated but did just to ensure they could appear on music shows. “It was a ghost experience. I was so scared, and I was only 16 at the time,” she recalled.
Hearing this, Daesung explained, “There used to be a culture like that. It was like some kind of deal where you’d help each other out to get on music shows.” He then added, “We didn’t do those kinds of things, which is why we only appeared on one broadcast. We really disliked variety shows, so if we didn’t want to do it, we simply didn’t.”
Choi Yoojung remarked that she noticed later groups seemed to appear on everything, and Kim Sohye lamented that they only promoted for a year while others had longer runs. When Daesung mentioned the phrase “leave while the applause is loudest,” Jeon Somi joked, “We left before the applause even started. Right when we were wondering, ‘Should we clap?'”
