Pop star Britney Spears’ representatives have come forward to deny allegations that she was in possession of a weapon.
A spokesperson for Britney Spears told the U.S. entertainment outlet Entertainment Weekly on the 14th (local time), “The allegations of a disturbance and weapon possession that surfaced on the 13th are completely exaggerated rumors. Britney was simply enjoying a quiet dinner with her manager and security. She was just sharing a story about her dog barking at the neighbors.”
Her team further emphasized, “Under no circumstances did Britney threaten anyone with a knife. She was simply cutting a hamburger in half. These allegations are similar to reports from 20 years ago when the media tried to paint Britney Spears in a negative light. This absurd behavior needs to stop now.”
Previously, TMZ claimed, citing a source, that Britney Spears caused a disturbance at a bar in Sherman Oaks. The source alleged, “Britney suddenly raised her voice and appeared unstable, even walking around the restaurant with a knife.” However, the restaurant has not released an official statement.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears was arrested on March 4 for reckless driving under the influence on Highway 101 in California. In relation to this, the Ventura County Superior Court ordered one year of probation, three months of substance abuse prevention education, a fine of $571, and one day of detention, considering that she admitted to the charges and showed remorse. Since she had already spent one day in custody, the detention was not further enforced.
