BTS Ignites the 2026 AMAs with an Explosive Opening Performance!

The 2026 American Music Awards (AMA) were held on May 25 at 5 PM (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the United States.

Amidst the electric energy of the crowd filling the stadium, BTS delivered a more intense and powerful performance than ever before. The footage shown was a pre-recorded performance of “Hooligan” from their recent world tour in the US, which was provided to the AMA.

Member j-hope radiated a strong aura, appearing in a hip-hop vibe with an all-black leather outfit and sunglasses. The other members then joined him at the center of the stage, surrounded by red flames and smoke, delivering a performance bursting with raw energy alongside their dancers.

A drone shot captured the massive stadium packed with the lights of ARMY’s lightsticks, creating a spectacular sight that looked like a flowing galaxy.

With this stage, BTS returned to the AMA for the first time in about five years since 2021. They are nominated for the prestigious “Artist of the Year” award, competing with nine global pop stars, including Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga.

In total, they are nominated in three categories, including “Best Male K-pop Artist” and “Song of the Summer” for “Swim,” the title track of their fifth studio album Arirang. The world is now eagerly waiting to see if they will take home the trophies.
