According to foreign media outlets including the New York Times (NYT) on the 13th (local time), FIFA has selected BTS as co-headliners for the halftime show of the ‘2026 FIFA North America World Cup’ final, which will be held on July 10 at New Jersey Stadium in New York.
BTS will grace the stage as co-headliners alongside legendary pop icons such as Madonna and Shakira.
Through their agency Big Hit Music, BTS shared their excitement, stating, “It is a great honor to stand on such a meaningful stage where the whole world comes together. We believe music is a universal language that conveys hope and harmony. It is even more meaningful to share that message with global viewers through this World Cup and contribute to expanding educational opportunities for children.”
The halftime show will be broadcast live worldwide, with Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin handling the artist curation. The charity organization Global Citizen is in charge of production.
BLACKPINK member Lisa will perform at the opening ceremony on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. This marks the second time a K-pop artist has participated in a World Cup opening ceremony, following BTS member Jungkook at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Additionally, global pop stars such as Katy Perry, Future, and Anitta are scheduled to perform in Canada and Mexico.
