Cha Ji-yeon Opens Up About Hospitalization; Kim Ho-young Responds With Heartwarming Support

Musical actress Cha Ji-yeon expressed her deep gratitude to her colleague Kim Ho-young while recalling a challenging time during her recent performances.

On the 9th, Cha Ji-yeon shared a heartfelt long post and photos on her personal social media account.

The shared photos showed Cha Ji-yeon lying in a hospital bed receiving an IV drip.

Her noticeably thin appearance and frail wrists added to the heartbreak of the scene.

She shared, “During the week in April when I had four performances of Lempicka, I suddenly came down with acute laryngitis, bronchitis, and a cold all at once.” She described her condition at the time, saying, “My voice wouldn’t come out well, and my face was severely swollen, as if I had been stung by a bee.” She confessed, “I was very worried about whether I could handle the stage in that condition.”

Cha Ji-yeon revealed that Kim Ho-young was a huge source of strength while she was struggling with her health.

She expressed her gratitude, saying, “Ho-young looked me straight in the eyes and told me, ‘You are someone who can definitely do it, and you will do it well. Don’t be afraid and believe in yourself.’ Thanks to those words, although I wasn’t in perfect condition, I was able to finish the performances well.”

She added, “Similar symptoms have returned today, a month later, but I will stand on the promised stage with a sense of responsibility. Even if I’m not in top condition, I will do my absolute best.”

Kim Ho-young also left a playful comment, showing his affection for Cha Ji-yeon: “Oh my, why are you doing this to me? haha You’re the one who knows the least about your own capabilities!”

In her full post, she clarified, “I’m not posting this photo to say ‘I’m sick’.”

She recalled that on April 8th, during a week with four Lempicka shows, she was hit by acute laryngitis, bronchitis, and a cold. With her voice failing and her face swollen, she felt paralyzed by worry.

She wrote, “My friend Kim Ho-young rushed to me as soon as his own schedule ended that day. He looked me in the eyes and said, ‘Cha Ji, you can do it. You’re someone who can handle this. You’ll even do it well. It depends on your mindset. Don’t be afraid, believe in yourself.'”

Cha Ji-yeon wondered if it was because of his conviction, which was even stronger than her own, that she found the strength to push through. Despite not being at 100%, she managed to finish the week of Lempicka by relying on her precious friends, supporters, and colleagues on stage.

Addressing her current state, she noted that while similar symptoms have returned a month later, she remains committed to her responsibility to the stage and will do her best.

She credited her newfound self-belief to her friend’s sincere heart and words, stating, “I can’t express how grateful I am. It might seem obvious to some, but for me, it was a welcome, precious, and huge turning point. I’m overwhelmed.”

Ending her post with love, she called him “my wonderful and beautiful friend Hoi” and promised to continue doing her best today and tomorrow, adding, “Let’s grow old beautifully and healthily together! Let’s go!”
