Cha Seung-won Opens Up About His Baking Struggles in 'Bonjour Bakery':

The press conference for the Coupang Play variety show ‘Bonjour Bakery’ was held on the morning of the 6th at Community House Masil in Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul. Actors Kim Hee-ae, Cha Seung-won, Kim Seon-ho, and Lee Ki-taek, along with PD Park Geun-hyung and writer Kim Ran-ju, were in attendance.

Cha Seung-won shared his reason for joining ‘Bonjour Bakery’, stating, “I’ve worked with PD Park Geun-hyung and writer Kim Ran-ju before, and the planning intent of this program was very clear.”

He continued, “I thought about how much affection these two (the production team) have for the show and how well they would lead it.” He added, “I’ve cooked a lot, but I thought I might get criticized if I did it half-heartedly. By the time we filmed the final episode, I felt that I was glad I did it.”

Cha Seung-won admitted he had some struggles in the kitchen, saying, “Cooking with precise measurements was difficult. But it turned out magically, and the strict writer pushed me, saying ‘you cannot skip the process.’ I was grateful that she helped me see it through to the end,” which drew laughter from the crowd.

‘Bonjour Bakery’ is a healing baking variety show set in Korea’s first ‘Senior Dessert Cafe’ located in a quiet rural village. It is a place where seniors who know the taste of life and bakery staff who know the taste of happiness share sweet comfort and warmth. The show is a collaboration between PD Park Geun-hyung (known for ‘You Quiz on the Block’ and ‘Spanish Home’) and writer Kim Ran-ju (known for ‘2 Days & 1 Night’, ‘Infinite Challenge’, and ‘Spanish Home’).

In the kitchen, the ‘Chef Team’ consisting of Cha Seung-won and Lee Ki-taek challenge dessert baking for the first time in their lives, pouring their passion into creating sweet moments for the seniors every morning. Meanwhile, in the hall, the soft chemistry between Kim Hee-ae and Kim Seon-ho amplifies the happiness brought by the beautiful desserts.

‘Bonjour Bakery’ will be released on Coupang Play on May 8th at 4 PM.
