Chef Ahn Sung-jae’s YouTube channel has temporarily shut down amid ongoing controversy.
On the 13th, the ‘Chef Ahn Sung-jae’ channel announced, “The production team intends to take some time for channel reorganization to refine the channel’s direction, overall operation, and ensure careful content production,” stating they would be taking a short break.
While the official reason is “channel reorganization” for the sake of better content and management, subscribers aren’t seeing it the same way.

This follows allegations from last month regarding a so-called “wine swap” incident at Mosu Seoul, the fine dining restaurant operated by Chef Ahn Sung-jae. A customer reportedly ordered an expensive wine but was served a different vintage, and it was claimed that Mosu failed to apologize for the mistake at the time.
Although Mosu eventually issued an apology, it was met with backlash and labeled a “half-hearted apology” because it lacked a detailed explanation, information on the sommelier’s disciplinary action, and compensation plans for the victim.

Finally, on the 6th, Ahn bowed his head with a 1,900-character apology letter. However, the issue didn’t end there, as he uploaded a YouTube video immediately after posting the apology.
Although it was a highlight reel of existing footage, the fact that it was released according to the regular upload schedule drew significant attention, and the comment section quickly turned sour.
A week later, on the day a new video was expected, a “channel reorganization” notice was posted instead. Subscribers are pouring out negative reactions, with comments like, “Just say you’re taking time to reflect,” “Apologizing is really hard, isn’t it?” “Why make this such a big deal?” “Are you running away because of the controversy?” and “It’s impressive how he’s fighting to the end.”
