Chef Kwon Sung-jun didn’t hold back his frustration toward the production team of Undercover Chef.
In the May 21 episode of tvN’s Undercover Chef, chefs Sam Kim, Jung Ji-sun, and Kwon Sung-jun made an appearance.
The three had to go undercover as the youngest staff members in an authentic kitchen, with the mission to get a new dish on the restaurant’s menu in just five days.
When MC Kim Poong asked if they were angry, Kwon Sung-jun admitted, “It was so hard. I still haven’t recovered.”
Sam Kim also questioned if Kim Poong could even understand their struggle, to which Kim Poong jokingly replied, “If I understood too well, I’d be a chef.”
Kim Poong wondered if it was even possible to go from rookie to menu-creator in five days. Kwon Sung-jun revealed, “Do you know what I said when I first heard this? I told them they really know nothing about cooking.”
Kim Poong agreed that the industry seemed to be taken too lightly, mentioning that the production team basically abandoned them. Kwon Sung-jun exploded, “It was total neglect! I even asked the writers, ‘Why did you even come to Italy?’ They just told us to figure it out and gave us no information. I begged them for a script or for them to do something!”
Sam Kim added that the only interaction they had with the staff was saying hello when arriving and leaving, while Kwon Sung-jun emphasized, “This is the real deal.”
