Popular comedian Lee Su-ji is mourning the loss of her father-in-law.
On the 25th, a representative from her agency, CP Entertainment, officially stated, “Lee Su-ji’s father-in-law passed away today (25th).”
According to the agency, her father-in-law passed away around 6 AM today due to a chronic illness. The funeral is being held at Room 1 of the Gurye Forest Cooperative Funeral Hall in Jeonnam, with the funeral procession scheduled for the 27th. He will be laid to rest at the family burial ground in Gurye-eup.
The agency added, “We ask for your warm comfort and condolences for Lee Su-ji and her bereaved family. May he rest in peace.”
Lee Su-ji, who debuted in 2012 as part of KBS’s 27th open recruitment of comedians, has been highly praised for her exceptional character acting in various comedy and variety shows, including KBS 2TV’s ‘Gag Concert.’ Thanks to her talent, she recently won the Best Female Entertainer award at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards.
During her acceptance speech, Lee Su-ji had mentioned her father-in-law, saying, “My father-in-law is very sick. I hope he can smile while watching the broadcast.” It is heartbreaking that he has passed away after seeing her achievement.
Lee Su-ji married her non-celebrity husband, who is three years her junior, in 2018. The couple has a son.
